Today, with a solemn heart, I must convey the somber news of the political demise of Senator Bukola Abiku Mesujamba Saraki, the patriarch of the Saraki Corruption Dynasty (SCD). At 15:20 Nigerian time on Saturday, February 23, 2019, Mesujamba Saraki bid farewell to his political career. The resounding defeat suffered by Mesujamba Saraki, the pride of Kwara, marked the end of one of the most enduringly fraudulent tenures in contemporary Nigerian politics.
His appearance before the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) during the tumultuous days of his falsified asset declarations was nothing short of a spectacle, with a parade of 50 senators, a veritable who’s who of the Senate of Robbers, accompanying him. It was a shameful circus, met with disdain by all but the most loyal mourners. Today, as we reflect on the passing of one of Nigeria’s most contentious senate presidents, there are few shedding tears for his political demise.
In the wake of Mesujamba’s fall, his die-hard loyalists, beneficiaries of his corrupt spoils, fellow tribesmen, and confused social media pundits, along with the Senate’s complicit fifty, have descended into a frenzy of mourning. They cry out, pleading for his return, lamenting his departure with a theatrical sorrow that belies the true nature of his legacy. “Oh, what a loss!” they wail, as if mourning a god among men, rather than a man who squandered his potential and betrayed his people.
But let us not mourn Mesujamba. His political demise is a reckoning long overdue. As the dust settles from his political funeral, the true extent of his misdeeds will come to light. He failed his people and his nation, betraying the trust placed in him. He was meant to be untouchable, following in the footsteps of his father, the former patriarch of the SCD. Yet, in the end, he fell like a withered tree, devoid of life and purpose.
Sing your songs of mourning, but know this: there are no tears left to shed for Mesujamba. He is gone, and with him, the illusion of his invincibility. For forty years, the Saraki Corruption Dynasty held Kwara State in its grip, feeding on the crumbs of corruption while the people languished in poverty. But now, the corrupt reign of the Senate’s golden boy has come to an end. The glamour has faded, revealing the ugly truth beneath.
So, do not weep for Mesujamba. Weep instead for yourselves, for allowing a man like him to rise to power unchecked. He was a danger to the fabric of society, a blight on the political landscape of Kwara and beyond. His legacy is one of greed, arrogance, and disdain for the very people he was meant to serve.
Mesujamba may have been cunning, but he was also reckless, his downfall the inevitable consequence of his own hubris. He lived a life of excess and extravagance, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake. His end serves as a stark reminder that unchecked power leads only to ruin.
So, let Mesujamba fade into obscurity, his name a footnote in the annals of history. Do not mourn his passing, but rather celebrate the dawn of a new era, free from the shackles of corruption and deceit. It is time to rejoice, for the long-awaited liberation of Kwara State is finally at hand. Let us cast off the chains of oppression and embrace a future built on integrity and justice.
The party is over for Mesujamba. Let him mourn his own demise, for he alone is to blame. Like the wicked kings of old, he will be remembered not with honor, but with scorn. Let his passing serve as a warning to all who would follow in his footsteps: the pursuit of power without principle leads only to ruin.
So, do not shed tears for Mesujamba. Let him be consigned to the dustbin of history, where he belongs. The time for mourning is over; the time for rebuilding has begun. Let us seize this opportunity to forge a new path forward, one free from the corruption and greed that defined the era of Mesujamba Saraki.
